Gold Label Clay Pebbles 45L (also known as Gold Label Hydrocorn) is the gold standard of hydroponic growing media. Manufactured using a unique blend of the purest clay and baked in an open furnace, these pebbles feature an irregular, porous shape that offers a far superior surface area compared to traditional round pebbles. With an ultra-low heavy metal content and strict RHP certification, Gold Label Hydrocorn provides an entirely inert foundation that delivers unmatched oxygen access, rapid drainage, and total control over your plant nutrition.Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Use Gold Label Clay PebblesGold Label Clay Pebbles are highly versatile. Follow these instructions based on your chosen growing method1. Preparation (Pre-Washing & Buffering)
- Quick Rinse: Unlike cheaper brands, Gold Label Hydrocorn is pre-washed and virtually dust-free. However, a quick rinse with plain water before use is recommended to remove any fine particles caused by transport.
- Pre-Soak: For absolute best results, soak the pebbles in a pH-adjusted nutrient solution (pH 5.5 to 5.8) for 12–24 hours before planting. This stabilizes the root zone chemistry.
2. Pure Hydroponic Systems (DWC, Flood & Drain, Dripper)
- Fill the Pots: Fill your net pots, buckets, or flood trays directly with the pebbles.
- High-Frequency Watering: Because clay pebbles drain almost instantly, they hold very little water. In automated systems like Deep Water Culture (DWC) or Ebb & Flow, ensure your water pumps run frequently or continuously to keep the root zone hydrated.
- Feed Immediately: Clay pebbles contain zero nutrients. You must feed your plants a high-quality hydroponic nutrient solution from day one.
3. Using as a Potting Soil / Coco Modifier
- Aeration Blend: Mix 10% to 30% Gold Label Clay Pebbles into your standard potting soil or coco coir substrate. This increases drainage, prevents the medium from compacting, and drastically increases oxygen delivery to the roots.
4. Using as a Drainage Layer (Pot Bottoms)
- Prevent Root Rot: Place a 2 to 5 cm layer of clay pebbles at the very bottom of your soil or coco pots before filling them with substrate. This creates a dedicated drainage reservoir, preventing the bottom roots from sitting in stagnant water.
5. Using as a Top Mulch Layer
- Moisture Retention & Pest Control: Spread a thin layer of pebbles across the top surface of your soil or coco pots. This reduces water evaporation, keeps the top layer of media moist, and helps deter common pests like fungus gnats from laying eggs.
How to Reuse Your Clay PebblesOne of the greatest benefits of Gold Label 45L Clay Pebbles is that they can be reused indefinitely:
- Remove the old root mass from the pebbles after harvest.
- Soak the pebbles in a dedicated enzymatic or sterilizing flush solution (like hydrogen peroxide or an enzyme cleaner) to dissolve dead organic matter.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water, reset the pH, and they are ready for your next grow cycle.
